SPOTLIGHT ON
Marilyn Farnsworth Wendling
Marilyn still has the “paint by number” she painted when just 4 years old. Decades were to go by before she picked up another paint brush.
Her working career was that of an executive secretary until a thoughtful birthday gift from her husband, of private painting instruction, would change her life and profession forever. In the many years since, pursuing this passion with the zest, enthusiasm and drive for which she is known Marilyn has established a full-time career as a fine artist. She is grateful to have studied with some of the greats ~ Ken Backhaus, Scott Christensen, Ken Auster, The Cumberland Society, Roger Dale Brown and Paula Frizbe to name a few.
You can find Marilyn painting in her studio or en plein air (outside) using a limited palette. Alla Prima (painting in one session), is her style preference. Marilyn’s exuberance is translated into her sought after works which she exhibits in local and regional shows, juried competitions and in fine art galleries in the South and New England. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout the United States.
Growing up in New Jersey and spending vacations on the Massachusetts coast, in the summer home built by her great grandfather, Marilyn’s love for New England was born. Her time is now spent between two homes ~ one in New Hampshire the other in Tennessee ~ each area providing a palette of endless beauty and inspiration.
Marilyn is an artist member and currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Chestnut Group ~Plein air painters for the land ~ Tennessee; an organization of artists who promote the preservation of land through art.
Marilyn shares her life with devoted husband, Mark, and their dogs.
